Sonder Creek Academy (SCA) is an independent JK–8 school in Walnut Creek. We take pride in exposing our students to the wider world, and in support of this, all of our students study a foreign language five days per week, either Spanish or Mandarin.
We are seeking a part-time Mandarin teacher to work with our Junior Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and 1st grade students for the 2025–2026 school year. This position focuses on creating joyful, engaging, and age-appropriate lessons for early learners—no textbooks, just songs, games, movement, storytelling, light reading, conversation, and other activities that spark curiosity and confidence.
*Schedule:*
* Monday–Friday, 12:00–2:30 p.m.
* Includes lunch supervision, 30–60 minutes of prep, and one or two Mandarin classes per day (JK, K, or 1st, alternating).
* Optional additional hours available (until 6:00 p.m.) assisting with our aftercare program.

*What we’re looking for in an SCA Mandarin teacher:*
* Native or fluent-level Mandarin ability.
* Ability to teach almost entirely in Mandarin (90%+ immersion).
* Experience teaching in preschool and/or early elementary school settings.
* Creativity in developing lessons that meet developmental needs while keeping classes active and engaging.
* A positive, high-energy presence that makes students look forward to class and brightens the campus for colleagues and families.
*Start Date:* Late August / Early September 2025. We are interviewing candidates now to join us for the upcoming school year.
