Community Consolidated District 89 Description: Glen Ellyn CCSD 89 is in need of a part-time (.1) Physical Education Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year.
Job Summary: To instruct children in such a manner as to inspire, motivate and stimulate the child to develop skills and concepts to the utmost of the child's leaning capabilities. To provide each child learner with an ongoing program of physical education designed to lead them to be successful and achieve and maintain physical fitness and a sense of competence in the practice of physical fitness skills.
Essential Duties:
1. Instruct children.
2. Implement the various programs designed to achieve the educational philosophy, goals, and objectives of the district.
3. Guarantee that every child shall have an equal opportunity for education.
4. Provide experiences and activities designed to motivate students to achieve to the maximum of their capabilities in learning new skills and concepts.
5. Create and maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning.
6. Encourage and help each child to develop a sense of worth, dignity and purpose.
7. Assess the capabilities of each child and provide instruction relative to that child's ability to learn.
8. Refer students with special needs to the Student Support Team.
9. Prepare lesson plans for each day.
10. Allocate learning time for each subject area according to the district's time allocation guidelines.
11. Evaluate student progress and adjust instruction according to student needs.
12. Keep accurate records for each child as required by the principal and the district.
13. Requisition instructional materials and supplies as they are required.
14. Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
15. Attend and participate in meetings called by the principal or district administrators.
16. Prepare for and conduct or participate in appropriate parent-teacher conferences.
17. Cooperate and work with parents.
18. Participate in staff development programs authorized by the district superintendent.
19. Implement all district rules, regulations, practices and policies.
20. Develop and prepare a personal plan for continued professional growth.
21. Makes decisions and demonstrates support of the mission, vision, goals and interests of the district and of
students.
Qualifications: All applicants for this position are required to meet Illinois State Board of Education certification. CCSD89 requirements includes: PEL (Professional Educator License) with Illinois State Board of Education, a Bachelor's degree, as well as a PE (Physical Education) endorsement is preferred.

Although this is a Part-Time position (.20 FTE) we welcome the opportunity to partner this position with a paraprofessional position (teaching assistant) in each school in order to make this full-time and benefit eligible.
Salary and Benefits: All certified staff are placed on a salary schedule according to education and experience as part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The starting BA, 1 salary for the 2025-2026 year is $56,162.00. Certified staff experience 12 sick days and 4 personal days of paid time off. All full-time staff have the privilege of partaking in our health and dental insurance programs, these include 90% Board paid health insurance for the employee (80% for family) and 100% Board paid dental insurance for the individual staff member.
