PART TIME RESOURCE TEACHER: BILINGUAL EDUCATION - EXTENDED DAY

To provide direct instructional support to teachers of culturally and linguistically diverse students in bilingual education.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Incumbent must achieve the following outcomes with or without reasonable accommodation:
Provides direct instruction to bilingual, ESL and general education teachers in best practices for students in bilingual programs. Provides demonstration lessons for teachers as appropriate. Provides assistance to school staffs in the development, implementation and assessment of bilingual language curriculum. Serves on district committees and task forces as designated by the supervisor. Assists teachers in identified programs with the development of bilingual literacy. PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
Preferences: Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Flexibility, organization, problem solving skills. Interpersonal skills with diverse populations in-person and on the telephone. Knowledge of APS community, computer system, financial procedures, and legal requirements. Ability to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects, and coordinate the work of others. Knowledge of district policies on immunization, medication, first aid, emergencies and child abuse/neglect. Knowledge of all laws, regulations and guidelines affecting teachers and students. Knowledge of effective classroom management techniques. Ability to maintain positive relationships with students, parents, community members and staff. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field Valid NM Teacher's Level II or Level III license appropriate to teaching assignment 200 K-8 for Elementary 350 5-9 for Middle-Level 300 6-12 Secondary for middle and high school Five or more years of experience teaching students in K-12.
