Teacher For The Deaf And Hard-Of-Hearing

Amergis is seeking a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing teaches deaf and hard-of-hearing pupils in a classroom setting. Instructs in academic subjects of regular curriculum or adapted curriculum.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans
  • Employs amplification devices
  • Prepare lessons that accommodate learning styles
  • Assist in the selection of instructional materials and equipment
  • Assess student learning styles and use results to plan educational activities
  • Conduct assessments of student progress and achievement using testing methodology
  • Compile reports, records, and documents as required
  • Conduct conferences with parents, teachers, students, and other School District staff
  • Follow School District policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree from accredited university preferred
  • Valid state teaching certificate as required by state regulations
  • Knowledge in Sign Language and use of amplification devices for the deaf and hard-of-hearing
  • Experience with deaf and hard-of-hearing students preferred
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language may be required
  • Computer proficiency required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
