Job Description
At Classical Prep, the teacher's role is to lead students in pursuit of the school's goals and mission.
Overview
- Position: Full-time, 10-month exempt
- Work Schedule: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM daily, 192 days, plus occasional nights and weekends as necessary, to include helping with fundraisers, concerts, etc.
- Benefits: Insurance benefits the first of the month following 60 days of full-time employment, 3% match of employee retirement contribution after a one-year vesting period, and seven (7) days of PTO
- Reports to Upper School Dean

Specific tasks required of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Instruction and Progress Monitoring

- Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning of string instruments (violin, viola, cello, double bass).
- Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and assessments that align with curriculum standards and best practices in music education.
- Instruct and monitor students in proper technique, tone production, intonation, rhythm, and musical expression.
- Use relevant but limited technology to support instruction, including digital tuners, metronomes, and music software.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing CPS rules and procedures.
- Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of CPS and the Pasco County School District.
- Provide appropriate and timely feedback on student performance and musical growth.
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use assessment data to adjust instruction accordingly.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date records of students' progress and development.
- Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies, and school regulations.
- Prepare required reports on students and activities.
- Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings.
- Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
- Prepare classroom and performance spaces for rehearsals and concerts according to CPS guidelines.
- Observe and evaluate students' performance and development.
- Assign and grade classwork, homework, tests, and musical assignments in a timely manner.
- Organize and direct student performances, concerts, and competitions as part of the school's fine arts program.

- Attend and participate in all professional development activities
- Maintain personal professional development records regarding certification
Miscellaneous
- Other duties as assigned by the administration

Overtime Eligibility
This job is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Course Overage
This position may require you to teach an additional period beyond your base contract. Should this occur, you will receive additional compensation at the effective negotiated rate (up to $3,420 for a full-year) in addition to your base salary for instructing this additional period. This additional amount will be paid as a supplement and will be disbursed per pay period based on the number of days you teach the class for that pay period.
Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Classical Preparatory School's evaluation rubric.
