We’re seeking a joyful and compassionate Assistant Teacher to help create a nurturing, faith-filled environment for our busy and curious one-year-olds. As part of our team, you’ll partner with the Lead Teacher and Directors to make each day meaningful through play, prayer, music, and learning. From diaper changes and snack time to Bible songs, story time, and dance parties, you’ll help show the love of Jesus in both big and small moments. Duties
Toddler Caregiver Job Duties (1 Year Experience)
Provide attentive, nurturing care to toddlers, ensuring a safe and supportive environment. Support early childhood development through engaging, age-appropriate educational and play-based activities. Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked classroom by managing materials and ensuring proper hygiene standards. Foster open and ongoing communication with parents through daily reports and informal conversations. Assist with smooth daily transitions for children between home and the childcare environment. Comply with all center policies, procedures, and state childcare regulations. Commit to continuous professional development by maintaining a personal improvement plan. Incorporate faith-based learning by teaching Bible stories and songs tailored to young children.
Requirements
Education:
High School Diploma or GED (required) Associate’s degree or some college coursework in education, child development, or related field (preferred) Completion of a Teacher Assistant certification or formal training program (a plus) Experience:
Minimum of 6 months experience in a licensed childcare center (1 year preferred) Experience supporting classroom management, lesson preparation, or group educational activities Exposure to working with children with special needs or behavioral challenges (a plus) Skills Abilities:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills High energy, patience, and enthusiasm for working with young children Ability to follow teacher instructions and maintain classroom routines Proven teamwork and collaboration in a classroom or center-based setting Understanding of child development and age-appropriate practices Organizational skills and attention to detail Physically capable of lifting and carrying toddlers (20–30 lbs) Responsibilities:
Assist lead teachers in day-to-day classroom activities Prepare materials and help set up learning environments Supervise and engage children during instructional and free-play times Help maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing classroom Support individualized learning and classroom inclusion practices Additional Requirements:
Must clear a full background check and fingerprint clearance Must pass a health screening Valid CPR and First Aid Certification (a plus)
Nice To Haves
Knowledge of DSS/DHEC guidelines. Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification. College credit in early childhood education or related field of study. CDA or 6 hours of ECE credit preferred.
