Summary:
ECE Substitutes, Inc. is seeking reliable, adaptable, and enthusiastic On-Call Preschool Teachers to provide high-quality care and instruction across multiple early learning centers in our service area. This role is ideal for teachers who enjoy variety, thrive in different classroom settings, and can quickly adapt to new environments. On-call teachers step in when regular staff are unavailable, ensuring classrooms remain safe, nurturing, and engaging for young learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Travel to assigned partner centers across multiple locations as scheduled.
- Provide nurturing, developmentally appropriate care to children ranging from infants to preschoolers.
- Follow existing lesson plans and daily routines provided by the center or lead teacher.
- Implement engaging activities that promote social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized learning environment.
- Supervise children at all times, following licensing safety standards and center policies.
- Communicate professionally with site staff, center directors, and ECE Substitutes, Inc. management.
- Support smooth transitions and continuity of care between classrooms.
- Adapt quickly to different teaching styles, center cultures, and classroom expectations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates or higher in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 12 months experience working in a licensed childcare or preschool setting.
- Strong understanding of developmentally appropriate practices.
- Ability to work with a variety of age groups (infants, toddlers, preschool).
- Reliable transportation to travel between assigned sites.
- Must pass all required background checks and meet state/local licensing requirements.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) preferred.

- Strong classroom management and child supervision skills.
- Patient, caring, and able to build rapport quickly with children and staff.
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Able to work independently and follow written/oral instructions.
Work Schedule:
- Flexible scheduling based on your availability and center needs.
- May include same-day or short-notice assignments.
- Assignments will be across multiple sites within the service region.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs., bend, kneel, and engage with children at their level.
- Ability to stand, walk, and actively participate in classroom activities for extended periods.
