POSITION: High School Science Teacher
START DATE: 2025-2026 school year
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Full-time Science teacher (DX Certification) to teach a variety of the following: chemistry, biology, earth science, physical science, and/or other science classes. The teacher shall understand and be able to apply principles of cooperative learning and have an understanding of the Michigan Science Standards.
BUILDING DESCRIPTION: Omni High School of Carrollton Public Schools serves youth aged 14-22 completing their high school education in a non-traditional environment. Omni seeks caring, certified high school professionals with knowledge and experience using a holistic, differentiated approach to teaching and learning. The teacher shall understand and be able to apply principles of cooperative learning and have an understanding of the Michigan NGSS Standards.
REPORTS TO: Principal
COMPENSATION: Per the Carrollton Education Association Master Agreement. Years of service will be considered.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND CREDENTIALS:
Must be HQ and certified by the State of Michigan for grades 6-12 in Secondary Education Science (DX) with a minor and certification in an additional subject in grades 6- 12.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must have an in-depth understanding of high school students and the ability to apply effective teaching strategies for alternative high school students.
Must have the ability to work well with staff, parents, administration, and students.
Participate in Individual Education Planning and meetings for Special Education
students when needed
Must be responsive to supervision and committed to continuous improvement.
Must have the ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
Must satisfactorily pass:
Law enforcement background check with fingerprinting.
Personal and professional reference background check.
Must receive a satisfactory response to the P.A. 189 letter (Misconduct Law).
ESSENTIAL SKILLS: Provide and utilize instructional plans, strategies, methods, materials, and techniques that best meet the needs of individual students and are congruent with Michigan State standards and the ethics of the profession.
Must have knowledge of STEM and Career and College Readiness standards.
Meet with parents on scheduled conference days, by phone or any other form of communication,etc, to discuss their student's educational needs.
Participates in teacher training, conferences, and workshops as required.
Be a team player and contribute to a positive culture and climate.
Maintain confidentiality of ALL students, parents, guardians, and staff information.
Understanding of Google Classroom.
Have a positive attitude working with students, parents, other staff members, and community members who visit Carrollton Public Schools facilities or programs, and positively represent the district.
Willingness to improve and grow as an individual teacher and align with the District and School Improvement Plans.
Familiar with Assertive Discipline and willing to provide behavioral modification when needed to ensure a safe environment for students at all times.
Completion of assigned reports, records, and other requirements of the job in a timely and accurate manner.
Must demonstrate competency in the classroom.
Ability to prepare individualized lesson plans based on student needs and organize a meaningful instructional program and differentiate instruction accordingly..
Ability to create and maintain daily lesson plans.
All other duties as assigned.
