*New Song School of the Arts is accepting applications for instructors that can teach PRIVATE lessons or GROUP classes for EARLY CHILDHOOD MUSIC, and/or PRE-SCHOOL PIANO *
*This position is a great fit for person(s) with the following qualifications:*
* Bachelor's Degree (preferred) in music or music education
* Passionate about music, and desires to see the benefits that the fine arts brings to the lives of those touched by such gifts
* Infectious excitement for the fine arts to which point they can effectively nurture students of all ages/levels
* Comfortable teaching private lessons and/or group classes
* Teach creatively, adaptively, and out of the box, while implementing ideas and incentives that aid in student retention
* Adaptive in their approach and customize a lesson plan to the individual needs of a student
* Effectively prepare students for performances
* Good people skills and the emotional quotient necessary to communicate effectively to students and parents
* Organized, attentive to detail, possesses strong written communication skills, has a sense of urgency, and, is a progressive, creative thinker, etc.
* Assign clear, routine, and concise expectations for home practice
* Energy to inspire, develop, and motivate students of all ages
*Personality Type/Skill Set:*
EXCELLENT people skills, leadership skills, confident, organized, outgoing, ability to be firm, but gentle, with a mentoring, nurturing, professional, commanding presence.
*Responsibilities:*
Use age-appropriate curriculums that will focus on NSSOTA's six core aspects of development:
1. *Sight reading *- teaching the student how to read music confidently
2. *Rhythm *- teaching the student how to feel, count, and understand rhythm in music; training for use of the metronome
3. *Technique* - teaching the student how to play with musicianship and artistry and “touch” their instrument in such a way that produces quality music, even at a young age.
4. *Music Theory* - teaching the student "how" and "why" music works; assigning them weekly theory lessons
5. *Performance* - teaching the student how to prepare, polish, and perform their music; to encourage, motivate, inspire our students to share their music with the world
6. *Ear Training *- teaching the student how to develop the ability to play without a written score; to use their “ear” and their theory knowledge to guide them in their playing
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $34.00 - $45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 1 – 30 per week
