MIDDLE SCHOOL STEAM TEACHER ON SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT GRANT FUNDED

JOB SUMMARY : The Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA): (1) Serves as part of the Leadership Team within a school facilitating job-embedded and ongoing professional reflection and learning for teachers. (2) Provides direct student instruction as a lead teacher in our Middle School Maker Spaces. (3) Provides guidance for teachers to enhance content knowledge and instructional strategies as it pertains to standards and best practices in Science, Career Technical Education (CTE), and Career Connected Learning. (4) Develops unit maps and daily lesson plans for projects rooted in appropriate grade level science and engineering standards. (5) Manages consumable materials at the school. (6) Develops skills and strategies using different technologies in our Maker Space tools and software programs. (7) Provide professional development for fellow educators. (8) Collaborate with Elementary and Secondary Career Technical Education leaders, community partners, and engage in future training. (9) In collaboration with high school CTE instructors, grow CTE Cadet Instructors at the school through independent study. (10) Collaborate at the district level to grow CTE programming and professional learning.
QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:

Exemplary classroom management skills.
Expertise and prior experience preferred working with Maker Space tools such as Glow Forge, 3-D Printers, Cricut, Lego robotics, and coding software preferred.
Prior experience in the design and implementation of Career Connected Learning lessons embedded into Science curriculum. and provide NGSS implementation support preferred.
Proven ability to braid Science Standards/CTE Pathway.
Cultural Competence
Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish
Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and create an inclusive learning environment.
Sensitivity to the cultural backgrounds and needs of students and their families.
Experienc e: Proven expertise in teaching, classroom management, and an interest in technology.
Education: Minimum Bachelor's Degree. CTE Endorsement or LCA required; District will sponsor the right candidate in obtaining CTE Endorsement .
Certification Required: Current Oregon Licensed Teacher Certification.

Other Skills and Abilities : Ability to work collaboratively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisor(s), staff, students, parents and community.

The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee may be required to sit at a desk and use a computer for long periods of time.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :
The current licensed teacher Calendar applies to this position. Performance will be evaluated in accordance with board policy on evaluation of Licensed personnel.
CLASSIFICATION:
Full time, probationary position; working at Chehalem Valley Middle School and Mountain View Middle School; GRANT FUNDED .
CALENDAR/BENEFITS:
Work Hours :
8 hours per day; 190 days starting August 25th, with an additional 2 New Hire Orientation Days paid by time sheet.
Salary and Benefits :
Salary range TBD based on upcoming licensed contract negotiations of 2025-2026 contract. (2024-2025 salary range $48,741 - $100,225).
