Position Overview: Teachers at Memphis Business Academy are key to advancing the school’s mission. Reporting to the Principal and various network administrators, teachers are responsible for developing and delivering a standards-aligned curriculum, continuously improving instructional practices, and collaborating on areas of need within the school. Teachers will be held accountable by the Principal, Chief Academic Officers, and other administrators for their performance, student achievement, and instructional quality. Essential Functions: Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment: Create and implement standards-aligned curriculum, including curriculum maps, unit plans, and lesson plans. Develop interim, midterm, and final assessments as needed. Provide engaging and rigorous instruction, both in whole-class and individual settings. Attend all Professional Learning Community Meetings and professional development sessions. Offer academic support and tutoring for small groups or individual students as needed. Continuously improve instructional effectiveness, using the school’s teacher performance evaluation rubric as a guide. Implement feedback to drive changes and improvements in performance. Administrative Responsibilities: Analyze student achievement data in collaboration with the academic team. Utilize data tracking systems to inform instructional development and delivery. Enter student performance data in a timely and accurate manner. Meet all administrative deadlines and requirements. School Culture and Community: Uphold and enforce school-wide systems, rules, disciplinary codes, and rewards consistently. Communicate proactively with students and families. Collaborate with colleagues and engage actively in all professional development and learning opportunities. Participate in additional school activities, including field trips, monitoring sporting events, and other required programs. Approach daily work with a positive, solutions-oriented attitude. Education and Certification Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred). Tennessee Professional Educator License (preferred). Eligibility for Tennessee Professional Educator License (required). Content area certification (preferred). Experience and Skills: Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Excellent communication skills. Strong personal organization and planning skills. Minimum of one year of experience in urban education with a proven track record of student performance growth (preferred). Bilingual skills (desired). Ability to work with students of varying academic abilities in a diverse classroom setting.
