POSITION: Middle School Mathematics Teacher (Grade 6)
LOCATION: Gibbs School
POSITION GOAL: To provide mathematics instruction according to the Arlington Public School curriculum and Massachusetts standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a Mathematics Teacher at the Middle School level
Degrees in Mathematics and Education preferred
Computer Science content knowledge and teaching experience desired
Experience working with students at the Middle School Level.
Performance Responsibilities: Teach four sections of 6th grade math and one section of advanced 7th grade math
Follow district policies and school and department expectations with respect to instruction, grading, communication to parents and families
Perform other such related duties as may be required by the Director of Mathematics or Building Administrator.
TERMS OF
EMPLOYMENT: Arlington Education Association Bargaining Unit Position
REPORTS TO: K-12 Mathematics and Computer Science Director and building principals
SALARY: Per the Arlington Education Association Contract
EVALUATION: The performance of this job will be evaluated as per the Arlington Education Association Contract. The K-12 Mathematics and Computer Science Director will complete evaluations with support from the building principals.
Salary and Benefits are consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Arlington School Committee and the Arlington Education Association.
The Salary Schedule is on our website. Salary placement is based on Education and Experience.
Arlington has a well-established new teacher induction program with mentoring throughout the school year. The first official work day in the 2025-2026 school year will be August 27, 2025. However, new staff are required to attend several days of orientation and training during the last two weeks of August.
