Middle School ELA Teacher

Creative Minds International PCS is currently seeking a Middle School ELA Teacher who can provide highly engaging, rigorous, and inclusive educational experiences to students daily. Candidates must have experience as a classroom teacher with a deep understanding of how to internalize and interpret Common Core Standards, to plan, deliver and assess standard-based instruction in reading, writing, speaking and listening.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Integration of Common Core State Standards-based goals and objectives in ELA with whole group and small group instruction Savvas (ELA);
- Establishing clear objectives for all ELA lessons, units, projects, and assessments;
- Using data to develop student-centered and achievement focused lesson plans;
- Providing an inviting, exciting, and innovative learning environment;
- Meeting the needs, interests and abilities for all students, including students with disabilities, ELL students, and those who are gifted and talented;
- Developing lesson plans that draw content from CMIPCS professional development in the areas of arts integration and child development to reinforce student learning;
- Regularly observing students and taking anecdotal notes to inform planning in the arrangement of small groups, classroom setup, integration of students' interests in learning activities, and subsequent assessments;
- Monitoring student progress in math through frequent formal and informal student evaluations recorded in online portfolio assessments;
- Using a variety of instructional materials, resources, and experiences to enrich student learning;
- Providing educational opportunities that reflect an understanding of students' ability and interests;
- Using appropriate techniques and strategies that promote and enhance creative problem-solving and evaluative thinking of students;
- Maintain accurate and timely records of student attendance, grades and performance;
- Creating a learning environment that reflects the theme(s) being studied through displays of student work and teacher-created materials along with Project Based Learning (PBL);
- Working with families to support the progress of individual students;
- Valuing the importance of real life experiences and providing opportunities for student-initiated explorations/activities related to math in the classroom throughout the day;
- Using effective, positive, and respectful interpersonal communication skills;
- Participates in school wide initiatives, professional development, and collaborative planning with colleagues;
- Incorporating technology into instruction;
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Must be able to pass a background check.

- Adept at thinking strategically, translating plans into action, and exhibiting excellent judgment.
- Commitment to the success of each and every student;
- Experience administering the NWEA-MAP;
- Training in Google G - Suite for Education
- Experience working with linguistically and ethnically diverse student populations and children with developmental differences
- Possession of or eligibility for a valid District of Columbia Teaching Certificate or License (standard or provisional)
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required (Master's Degree in related field preferred)
- 3+ years of related experience preferred;
