Job Summary:
The Middle School Spanish Math Teacher (6th-8th Grade) under the supervision of the principal is responsible for creating a dual-language (English/Spanish) classroom environment that ensures the learning and personal growth of every student; motivating students to become bilingual/biliterate leaders, develop critical thinking skills, and become environmental stewards.
This subject is taught entirely in Spanish.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Create and maintain effective environments for students.
- Understand and organize subject matter for student learning in a way that fosters individual and group investigation.
- Plan instruction and design differentiated learning experiences for a range of needs and abilities utilizing MN standards.
- Use formative and summative assessments of student learning to drive instruction.
- Collect and analyze student data to improve the school-wide instructional program.
- Collaborate with Resource Teachers, students, and families to support the academic and social development of students with disabilities and suggest options for improvement.
- Continually support student behavior with systems for feedback, reflection, and growth.
- Monitor student progress, maintain student records and portfolios
- Collaborate with instructional coaches, students, and families to support the academic and social development of students.
- Communicate and actively build a strong relationship with students and parents/guardians on a regular basis, including leading parent conferences.
- Continually support student behavior with systems for feedback, reflection, and growth, as supported by our PBIS- schoolwide implemented program.
- Attend IEP and 504 meetings as required for your students.
- Maintains professional competence by attending staff development programs, curriculum development meetings, and other professional activities.
- Participates in various student and parent activities which occur in school including curriculum nights, and school events.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a current MN license in Math or a related field, or have the ability to obtain one.
- Must be proficient in academic or native Spanish
- Must satisfactorily pass a criminal background check, and comply with organizational and district policies.
- Required to lift or carry classroom supplies, textbooks, furniture, and equipment to a minimum of 35 pounds.
