Salary is based on the 2024-25 salary schedule, as the 2025-26 MREA contract is currently under negotiation.

JOB GOALS:
  1. Create a classroom environment which is safe, supportive and conducive to learning.
  2. Implement instructional strategies and programs which will help students to construct knowledge.
  3. Assist students in acquiring a strong foundation of skills and knowledge.
  4. Develop a positive working relationship with students, staff, administration, parents and community.


ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Holds a valid Oregon Elementary Teaching license and appropriate endorsements.
  2. Knowledge of early childhood growth and development.
  3. Possesses functional computer literacy, knowledge of word processing and an understanding of how computers can assist instruction.


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provides initial instruction in reading writing, speaking, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, and music using Board adopted materials.
  2. In preparation for instruction, addresses both short- and long-term learning goals. Shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
  3. Provides developmentally appropriate learning experiences which allow all children to build upon their prior knowledge and current skill level.
  4. Adapts and modifies instructional strategies and materials, as necessary, to support all students' academic progress.
  5. Maintains professional competence through inservice education activities provided by the District and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
  6. Uses a variety of formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress and achievement of the instructional objectives.
  7. Documents student learning through the use of portfolios, which may include student work samples, anecdotal records, tapes, video recordings, etc.
  8. Prepares and maintains accurate and complete records as required by law and district policy.
  9. Maintains professional confidentiality concerning individual student data and achievement.
  10. Identifies and refers students who need additional services and support.
  11. Communicates to parents the level of student achievement and progress towards established classroom, district, and state standards.
  12. Works constructively with colleagues and others for the purpose of improving the quality of a student's behavior and academic success.
  1. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning environment. Notifies and involves parents/guardians regarding a student's behavior as outlined in school and District policies.
  2. Takes all reasonable precautions to provide a safe, secure learning environment.
  3. Encourages parents to volunteer on a regular basis and provides them with a variety of constructive tasks to perform.
  4. Maintains a high level of professional integrity by adhering to the Teacher Standards and Practices requirements for an Ethical Educator, (as written in the Staff Handbook) as well as Board Policy and State Law.
  5. Participates in various meetings (e.g. staff, team, parent conferences, in-service training, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information or sharing expertise.
  6. Performs such other tasks as may be assigned by the Board or Administration.
