Position Description

POSITION TITLE: Long-TermSubstitute Teacher

AVAILABLE POSITION(S): Elementary K-6, Jr. High Core Subjects and Special Education

QUALIFICATIONS: Verification of a Bachelors Degree or higher from an appropriately accredited college/university

REPORTS TO: Human Resources and/or Building Principal

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Daily contracted services for the 25-26 school year. Eligible for insurance benefits

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Maintain a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of the students.
  2. Teaches district-approved curriculum based on state frameworks and standards.
  3. Prepares for assigned classes, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request.
  4. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt and differentiate the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
  5. Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes during the instructional day and extended hours when necessary.
  6. Attends and participates in faculty meetings and professional development activities.
  7. Ensure that district policies are observed during all activities.
  8. Create a safe classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
  9. Keep all children in the classroom under supervision at all times.
  10. Be familiar with fire exits, fire drill procedures, severe storm and tornado warning procedures. Review notes for the day, take attendance and follow the lesson plans of the teacher.
  11. Maintain confidentiality as defined by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  12. Demonstrate the ability to adapt to circumstances. Exhibit good judgment and use appropriate language or behavior while on assignment.
  13. Report for duty on time and remain on duty for the entire assignment, including planning time of the teacher.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
  2. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  3. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
  4. Other duties as assigned by the Principal, or designee.
