THE ROLE

As the Lead Fifth Grade Writing Teacher, you will create a classroom environment that promotes high academic achievement, personal growth, and a love for learning. You will play a vital role in building an innovative school that redefines public education in Atlanta. Holding students to high standards academically and behaviorally, you will continuously develop as a professional. Teaching three sections with an average class size of 25 scholars is both a privilege and a commitment, requiring dedication, passion, and a growth mindset.


THE PERSON

As a Lead Fifth Grade Writing Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver engaging, rigorous Writing instruction that fosters curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking in fifth-grade scholars.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet varied learning needs and help every scholar reach their potential.
  • Assess and monitor scholar progress, providing timely feedback and reports to both scholars and parents.
  • Collaborate with fellow educators to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Cultivate a classroom culture that celebrates diversity, equity, and a commitment to academic excellence.
  • Utilize diverse instructional materials and strategies to enhance scholar engagement and mastery.
  • Communicate effectively with scholars, families, and staff to support each scholar's growth.


THE MUST HAVES

Prior Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Education, English, or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
  • Valid teaching certification in Elementary Education (P-5) or Middle Grades (4-8).
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching English Language Arts to scholars, with a track record of student growth and achievement.
  • Strong grasp of literary and writing concepts, presented in ways accessible to young learners.
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills.


Work Demands

  • Schedule: 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
