Summary

As a Lead Teacher, you will provide classroom management and oversight in a large childcare facility for two—to four-year-olds. Your primary focus will be to directly plan daily activities, supervise, nurture, teach basic skills, and give guidance to a group of children. You will also provide direction and oversight to the assistant teacher(s) and communicate with parents verbally and in writing.

Duties

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that have been implemented by the Director and Assistant Manager, through curriculum.
  • Establish and enforce rules for behavior while supervising the classroom/ playground education program by the center policy and developmentally appropriate practice.
  • Maintain the classroom in a healthy and organized manner according to Health Department, Fire Marshall, and Department of Children and Families guidelines.
  • Serve as playground monitor while engaging in play with the children.
  • Maintain an updated list of children's allergies in the classroom.
  • Ensure the safety and supervision of children by policy and procedure.
  • Assist with snack preparation, feeding children, toileting/diapering, nap time, general cleanup, and classroom organization.
  • Observe, document, and evaluate children performance, behavior, social development and physical health.
  • Communicate and attend family meetings with the children's parents and/or guardians to foster and maintain positive relationships and review daily activities, behaviors, and related issues.
  • Actively participate in staff meetings, center functions, and trainings.
  • Maintain a professional image in your dress and communication while interacting with those on campus.
  • Comply with the company's drug-free and tobacco/nicotine-free policy.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience teaching young children is preferred.
  • Must pass DCF/OCPS and Rosen Preschool background check.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • CDA or higher is required.
  • 45 hours of state-mandated early childhood training is completed or begin training within 12 months of employment and complete the early literacy training within 3 months of employment.
  • Required annual continuing education and required criteria as dictated by the state and our center.
  • CPR and First Aid certified within 1 year of employment.
