Labouré Adult Education offers comprehensive, high-quality educational services to advance and accelerate the academic achievement of adult immigrant learners who face significant barriers in their search of viable career pathways and self-sufficiency. The program provides 5 levels of ESOL instruction from beginning to advanced levels of language proficiency, college and career readiness programming, flexible schedule and distance learning options.

Teaches ESOL I 9 hours weekly instruction in person, 4.5 hours weekly prep time, 2 hours administrative,15.5 hours weekly total. Part-time for 36 weeks a year. Class time 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain professional boundaries
  • Teach ESOL to adult students at the beginner level (ESOL I)
  • Conduct initial and on-going assessment of students, including BEST and TABE E
  • Participate in staff development
  • Integrate technology in the class curriculum
  • Provide classroom instruction and educational advising
  • Develop curriculum materials which meet best practice standards and focus on communication skills
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings
  • Maintain students' records in agency reporting tools
  • Facilitates student access to other educational, skills training, and/or higher educational programs, their requirements and other information
  • Implements strategies for obtaining student feedback and incorporate data in new course offerings and staff professional development
  • Attends all internal and external meetings and trainings as required
  • Comply with DESE required policies and requirements
  • Local travel as needed.
  • Timely arrival to perform the functions of the position.
  • Perform work in a classroom/office environment with the use of computers, phones and other office equipment. May stand or sit for prolonged periods.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor’s degree in education or related filed
  • A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in a similar environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of educational theory and best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and compassionately in a culturally competent manner, with students of a wide variety of backgrounds, skill levels, race and ethnicity with varying level of English language skills
  • Technology skills- knowledge of TEAMS, Zoom google classroom, and Microsoft (word, excel, etc.).
  • Communication and problem solving.
  • Available in the evenings- Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays from 4:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M.
