Summary
Westdale Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Kindergarten Teacher. This full-time position offers the opportunity to nurture young minds and foster a love of learning in a supportive and engaging environment. The ideal candidate will be passionate about early childhood education and committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom atmosphere where students can thrive.
Responsibilities
– Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that align with state standards and promote cognitive, social, and emotional development.
– Create a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters a sense of belonging.
– Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs.
– Assess and monitor student progress through observations, assessments, and individualized feedback.
– Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, classroom activities, and any concerns.
– Collaborate with fellow educators, staff, and administration to enhance the overall educational experience.
– Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
– Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in early childhood education.
– Implement classroom management strategies to promote positive behavior and conflict resolution among students.
– Engage in school events and activities to foster community involvement and support student learning.
Requirements
– Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field.
– Valid Michigan teaching certification for Lower Elementary education.
– Previous experience working with young children in an educational setting preferred.
– Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate teaching practices.
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students, parents, and colleagues.
– Ability to create a positive and engaging classroom environment.
– Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
– Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning.
– Commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse classroom environment.
– First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.
MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Regular, in-person attendance required
