Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in Vancouver, WA, is seeking an Elementary and Middle School Music Teacher who canjoin our team beginning with the 2025-2026 school year. Our Music Teacher will collaborate with staff and the school community to ensure that we fulfill the mission of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School (located in Vancouver, Washington), fostering faith-filled students, lifelong learners, and good citizens. We are looking for someone with positive energy and a team player.

In addition to Music, this candidate must be committed to teaching the faith and providing all students with an equitable and inclusive education in a community that celebrates its diversity. Applicants should be passionate about Catholic education, interested in working as part of the preschool team, the elementary team (Grades k - 5) and middle school team (Grades 6-8), be comfortable using educational technology in instruction, able to differentiate instruction, and make regular use of formal and informal assessments as an integral part of curriculum planning and instruction. Candidates need to hold or be working toward a current Washington State teaching certificate endorsed in Elementary Education, or other certification approved by the State of Washington. Preference will be given to candidates with successful teaching experience.

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES:

Proficient and qualified to teach music to students in preschool through grade 5thgrade, developing skills in rhythm and melody according to developmental levels Teach introductory band or instrumental program in (grade 5 and middle school elective), developing foundational skills in instrumentation and an appreciation of music and culture. Coordinate and implement intermittent student performances such as band concert, Christmas program, and spring performance. Bring with them a commitment to Catholic education Demonstrate an ability to develop lesson plans and supplementary material including multi-level lessons to engage differentiated learning groups Demonstrate an ability to use instructional technology effectively, including interactive whiteboards, document cameras, and Google Apps for Education Demonstrate an ability to integrate modern technologies, media and other tools into instruction Desire to work collaboratively with the teaching team on behalf of students, and seek the ideas, feedback or advice of colleagues Act as a role model by helping students feel motivated and following the school's Mission and School Wide Learning Expectations Demonstrate an ability to establish and maintain standards of student behavior through relationship building, positive reinforcement and support Demonstrate an ability to create and maintain a positive classroom environment Teach and develop strategies to resolve conflict Evaluate and document academic and social growth of students, and maintains required records Communicate regularly and thoroughly with families Supervise and monitor students in class and during transitions Perform other duties as assigned Recognize regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job Engage learners in a positive, nurturing learning environment Demonstrate an understanding of essential mathematic standards and learning objectives and their vertical alignment Use summative and formative assessments to drive instruction and differentiation Use technology as a tool to enhance curriculum, collaboration, and creative thinking skills Participate as an energetic, empathetic, and innovative team member Demonstrate an ability to be flexible and resourceful Desire to work with students from a variety of cultural backgrounds and academic needs Possess the knowledge and skills to develop positive interpersonal relationships and best practices approach to learning and instruction Demonstrate good organization and management skills Collaborate with colleagues including team teaching, professional learning communities, and Response to Intervention process Demonstrate a commitment to working with young adolescents and understanding of their developmental needs Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Committed to teaching the Catholic faith Desires to teach students from various cultural backgrounds with diverse academic needs Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education or equivalent background Washington State teacher certification or equivalent Ability to teach developmentally appropriate musical skills to PreK-5 students Ability to teach introductory instrumental music to students in grades 5-8 Ability to plan, coordinate, and execute intermittent student performances during the school year Successful criminal background check Completion of VIRTUS Safe Environment Training Desired Attributes: Utilizes strong classroom management and organization skills Creates an engaging, positive, and nurturing learning environment Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills Demonstrates sound emotional and social intelligence Builds positive and professional relationships with all stakeholders in the school community Collaborates effectively will colleagues and works productively within a team setting Utilizes technological resources to enhance instructional practice Familiarity with Understanding by Design curriculum development framework Uses formative and summative assessments to inform instruction and implement effective differentiation strategies

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
