Position Summary: Alaska Gateway School District is seeking a Interim special education teacher for the 2025/2026 school year, who is highly creative, able to think out of the box, and who wishes to become part of a progressive school district with a sense of educational mission, purpose, and possessing a commitment to helping students succeed. This position is based at Tok School. AGSD offers a competitive salary ranging from $58,293 to $96,343.
Duties specific to this particular position include but are not limited to: One year position
Work with students one on one and in small groups to implement their IEP goals
Facilitate work with the IEP team to design and implement effective Individual Education Plans
Assists teachers to design and implement appropriate strategies in the classroom for each student
Develops effective working relationships with parents that encourage student achievement
Supervise assigned classified staff in coordination with the site administrators and Special Education Director to provide maximum support and to reduce barriers to student success.
Monitor student progress for the purpose of determining appropriate interventions when needed.
Sets-up and maintains the schedule for meeting with students and teachers to ensure adherence and updating of IEP determined schedules, monitor student work, and ensure tutoring as needed.
Maintain accurate and timely paperwork as required by local, state and federal guidelines.
Maintains open and on-going communication and involvement with the students' families and community.
Provides coordinated linkages between the student's social, emotional and academic needs
Possess a customer service orientation, maintain and model a professional manner and decorum.
Keep abreast of current and emerging educational research and trends
Responds to referral of students to the program.
New teachers actively participate in the district's orientation program
