Intern Technician Trainer/Teacher

Tom Wood is seeking a passionate and experienced Technician Trainer/Teacher to join our team. This role will be helping us in training and teaching interns the growing and demanding world of a Technician. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive repair, a knack for teaching, and a commitment to advancing technician skills and performance. Key Responsibilities: Design and deliver hands-on and classroom-based training for entry-level technician interns. Conduct skills assessments and identify training needs across service departments. Develop training materials, manuals, and assessments aligned with OEM standards and Tom Wood’s service protocols Stay current with industry trends, vehicle technologies, and manufacturer training requirements. Mentor and support technicians through certification processes (e.g., ASE, OEM). Collaborate with service managers to ensure training aligns with operational goals and technician development plans. Track training participation, progress, and outcomes using learning management systems (LMS). Qualifications: 5+ years of experience as an automotive technician or technical instructor. ASE Master Certification or equivalent OEM certifications preferred. Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to engage and motivate learners with diverse skill levels. Proficiency with diagnostic tools, repair software, and technical documentation. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Preferred Skills: Experience with hybrid and electric vehicle systems. Familiarity with dealership management systems (DMS) and LMS platforms.
