Indian River State College is looking for an Infant/Toddler Lead Teacher for its Child Development Center located on its Massey Campus in Fort Pierce.As a lead teacher, you will be responsible for creating a safe and nurturing environment that promotes learning and development. You will work closely with parents and caregivers to ensure that each child receives individualized attention and care. Our ideal candidate has a degree in Early Childhood Education, Early Special Education or a related field and at least 2 years of related work experience in the child care industry, specifically working with infants and toddlers. You should be knowledgeable about child development, early childhood education and have a passion for creating a positive learning environment. QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS : The qualifications and skill requirements for this position include: Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education and/or Early Special Education with two (2) years of proven work experience in the child care industry; Proven work experience documenting an in-depth knowledge of Child Development and Early Childhood Education and with CDA requirements and training; Computer literacy with experience utilizing Microsoft Office applications; Must possess organizational, interpersonal, supervisory, and human relations skills and abilities; Ability to work effectively with a diverse population; Dynamic self-starter capable of communicating professionally – both verbally and in writing; Ability to act as interface between students, faculty, parents or potential parents of center children and the Center Director; Ability to implement developmentally appropriate curriculum in the classroom setting as well as ability to model and supervise appropriate teaching techniques. Demonstrated supervisory skills. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The essential job functions and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Implementing and supervising a developmentally-appropriate curriculum in all Infant/Toddler classrooms; Assisting with the planning, organizing, and supervising of the Infant/Toddler Program in a high-profile Campus Child Development Center; Developing a good working relationship with parents; Supporting all infant-toddler center staff, individually and with curriculum development; Working with coalition representatives assigned to infant-toddler program; Assisting with complying with DCF licensing requirements for infant-toddler program; Assisting with providing an educational environment suitable for high school and college laboratory work; Supervising infant-toddler staff and curriculum development; In the absence of the Child Development Center Director, this position will be responsible for supervising all Center employees, and managing all daily operations of the Child Development Center. POSITION TITLE: Infant/Toddler Lead Teacher Page 2 SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The specific duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: Modeling appropriate teaching techniques; Guiding planning and evaluation for children; Assisting with interviewing all enrolling infant-toddler parents; Teaching or substituting in a classroom fulfilling teacher duties of planning, evaluating, and implementing lesson plans as required; Ensuring availability for parent conferences when necessary; Coordinating and attending parent meetings/functions; Assisting with preparation and distribution of all infant-toddler progress reports to parents a minimum of twice per year; Supporting educational program in all infant-toddler classrooms; Attending all staff meetings as well as assisting in maintaining the overall goals and objectives of IRSC; Assisting the center director through annual DCF inspections, licensing processes, and monitoring all areas of program compliance throughout the year to include reporting such compliance to the director on a weekly basis; Providing an educationally sound laboratory available to high school and college early childhood students; Assisting with originating purchase order requests for materials and supplies; Assisting in scheduling of high school and college students into the laboratory; Completing other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Working some evenings and weekends as required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical requirements for this position include: Physical abilities and dexterity sufficient to stand for up to one hour; walk; sit; stoop; climb; crouch; kneel; crawl; and balance. High degree of flexibility and dexterity to include the ability to reach/stretch hands and arms. Ability to react and move quickly when toddlers are involved. Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Auditory abilities sufficient to monitor, assess, and ensure toddler safety and care at all times. Visual abilities sufficient for observation of toddlers to include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust vision focus. Ability to tolerate diaper smells as well as complete the diapering process.
