Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated Infant Teacher to join our team. This position is responsible for the day-to-day care and early development of infants aged 6 weeks to 12 months in accordance with MSDH licensing regulations and developmentally appropriate practices. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with young children, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide attentive, responsive care to infants including feeding, diapering, napping, and age-appropriate interactions.
- Create and maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment that meets MSDH health and safety standards.
- Develop and implement daily routines and age-appropriate activities that promote sensory, motor, social, and language development.
- Observe and document each child's developmental milestones, behavior, and progress.
- Maintain open and respectful communication with parents, families, and colleagues.
- Follow all MSDH regulations and center policies, including ratios, sanitation, and documentation requirements.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development as required by MSDH and center policy.
- Collaborate with co-teachers and support staff to ensure a consistent and enriching learning environment.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED.
- Must meet MSDH requirements for Infant Staff, including:
- Criminal background check clearance
- Child Abuse Central Registry clearance
- Health form and TB screening
- Must complete MSDH-mandated training (within 90 days of hire).
- Experience working with infants in a licensed childcare setting preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire).
- Knowledge of infant development and safe sleep practices.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Patience, flexibility, and a nurturing attitude.
