Summary
Peppermint Pattiās Academy is seeking a warm, reliable, and nurturing individual to step in as a temporary teacher in our 1-year-old classroom. This position is needed immediately and can be permanent.
Duties
1. Supervision Safety
Requirements
Must have completed the DCF 45-Hour Child Care Training (including all 5 parts: Rules Regulations, Health Safety, Child Growth Development, Behavioral Observation Screening, and Preschool Appropriate Practices)
Must have Active First Aid CPR Certification (Infant/Child)
High school diploma or GED required; CDA (Child Development Associate) or higher preferred

Duties
1. Supervision Safety
- Ensure constant supervision and a safe environment at all times
- Perform daily health and safety checks on children and classroom
- Follow all DCF safety, sanitation, and emergency procedures
- Diaper changing and potty training support as developmentally appropriate
- Assist children with feeding, hand washing, and hygiene
- Maintain clean, sanitized classroom materials and equipment
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that support developmental milestones (motor, language, social-emotional, cognitive)
- Engage children in sensory play, music, storytime, and interactive activities
- Observe and document children's progress and behaviors
- Maintain positive, respectful communication with children, parents, and staff
- Provide daily reports on meals, naps, diapers, and activities
- Address parent concerns with professionalism and empathy
- Maintain a calm, nurturing, and structured environment
- Encourage positive behaviors using redirection and age-appropriate guidance
- Keep classroom organized and inviting
- Work cooperatively with assistant teachers and floaters
- Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development
- Support substitute staff or float when needed
- Maintain attendance, incident, and accident reports
- Ensure children's files and assessments are updated as needed
- Comply with all DCF, ELC, and center policies and licensing standards
