Summary:
The Hospital School Teacher is responsible for the education and support of patients in one of three groups: Elementary - kindergarten through 4th grade, Middle - 5th grade through 8th grade, Secondary 9th grade through 12th grade. Teachers assess patients' educational needs, provides educational support for hospitalized children and adolescents, serves as educational liaison between patients and their home school, and provides academic instruction for schoolwork across all disciplines both in a group setting and at a patient's bedside.

Description:
1. Gathers education information, assess patients' needs for educational services and documents full assessment.
2. Collaborates with patient, family, and health team to identify patient's educational needs.
3. Obtains current assignments from school and develops curriculum to meet patient's needs.
4. Provides direct instruction on an individualized basis as needed and tries to involve patients in group school as medically appropriate.
5. Documents all interventions.
6. Maintains an appropriate learning environment by providing a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and has the appropriate materials and supplies.
7. Assists volunteers and students with policies, procedures, and quality interaction with patients providing constructive feedback.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.
