We are looking for an individual who is passionate about fostering a love for physical activity, promoting healthy habits, and contributing to the holistic development of each child within a Catholic school environment.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and developmental stages, ensuring active participation and skill development.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment where all students feel comfortable participating and taking risks.
- Build strong connections with students while also providing clear expectations, constructive feedback, and effective behavior management.
- Collaborate effectively with fellow faculty and staff as part of a cohesive team dedicated to the academic, spiritual, social, and emotional growth of the whole child.
- Manage a full and varied daily schedule, transitioning between different grade levels and adapting instruction accordingly.
- Demonstrate flexibility in the use of the gymnasium and other physical activity spaces, adapting to school events and needs.
- Integrate Catholic values and virtues into physical education lessons and foster an understanding of sportsmanship and respect.
- Maintain accurate records of student participation, progress, and assessments.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and school-wide events.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience teaching physical education to children across various age groups (PK-8th grade) preferred.
- Fluency in both English and Spanish (bilingual) is highly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field preferred
- Valid state teaching certification in Physical Education (or eligibility for certification) preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to connect with students, build rapport, and inspire participation.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a demanding and varied schedule.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in coaching school-aged children in various sports is a significant asset.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
