Job Title: Teacher ACCS
Location: Adams County Christian School
Term of Employment: 12-month contract, August 1 July 31
Start Date: August 7, 2025 (Teacher Orientation)
School Start Date: August 14, 2025
Job Summary:
Our teachers at ACCS are called to provide a Christ-centered educational environment, guiding students in developing their spiritual and academic potential. Teachers plan, organize, and implement dynamic and engaging lessons, assess student progress, and support students at all levels. Responsibilities include homework assignment, grading, and communication of student progress.
Qualifications:
- Personal relationship with Christ and demonstrated spiritual leadership.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university.
- Ohio Teaching Certification.
- Prior teaching experience preferred.
- Willingness to complete ACSI certification as required.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check.
Supervises:
Teachers supervise all students assigned to their class and may also supervise teacher aides, who report directly to the Principal.
Key Responsibilities:
Spiritual Leadership:
- Exhibit Christ-like behavior, actions, and communication with all members of the ACCS community.
- Commit to a vibrant relationship with Christ through regular spiritual disciplines including prayer, Bible reading, church attendance, and devotion participation.
- Model continual personal and professional growth, demonstrating a teachable spirit and a commitment to lifelong learning.
- Uphold the ACCS Statement of Faith and avoid denominational issues, leaving them to individual local churches.
Instructional Leadership:
- Create and implement lesson plans that reflect the developmental needs and learning styles of students.
- Foster a nurturing and Christ-centered learning environment for both academic and spiritual growth.
- Utilize a variety of instructional techniques, media, and cooperative learning strategies.
- Regularly assess student progress and provide feedback on academic and behavioral development.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom environment conducive to learning.
Student Management:
- Implement behavior management strategies consistent with ACCS principles.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and achievement.
- Adhere to school emergency procedures and provide a safe, supportive learning environment.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to manage discipline effectively.
- Maintain open communication with parents regarding student performance and behavior, including through SIS and Class Dojo.
Curriculum and Assessment:
- Ensure the timely development of daily and weekly lesson plans.
- Align teaching with school curriculum guidelines and ACCS standards.
- Teach assigned subjects such as Applied Geometry, Algebra II, and Personal Finance, along with electives as needed.
- Monitor classroom resource needs and assist in curriculum development and material ordering.
Special Education:
- Implement and support Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Participate in evaluation meetings to track and support students progress.
School and Community Engagement:
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings, school events, and professional development programs.
- Participate in Parent-Teacher Conferences, Open Houses, and other school-related activities.
- Collaborate with administration on field trips and other extracurricular events.
Additional Requirements:
- Attend at least one professional development program every two years.
- Contribute to and maintain positive school and community relations.
