High School Afterschool Teacher Many of the toughest challenges for students occur after the school bell rings. Whether they face hunger or academic obstacles, students find a safe environment at our Afterschool Program. The free program allows students to complete their homework under teacher supervision and enables them to connect with their classmates through career and college readiness skills, nutrition, and arts. Our Afterschool Program focuses on core areas – academic enrichment, life skills, cultural enrichment, parental involvement, and community service. HS Afterschool Teacher Job Responsibilities: Accomplishes students’ needs by developing, monitoring, and evaluating pre- and post-surveys to track academic and workforce development progress. Admits new students by reviewing applications and conducting orientations. Establishes programs by setting monthly schedules and routines, coordinating provided services, and arranging resources, including supplies, guest speakers, and teachers/instructors. Monitors students by verifying student attendance; observing and evaluating responses (virtually); and verifying student id numbers. Maintains records by submitting monthly attendance, events, and progress in SAMIS. Improves staff competence by balancing work requirements with learning opportunities. Meets budget by monitoring expenses and implementing cost-saving actions. Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends, compiling statistics, and completing grant deliverables. Work Hours : Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and/or Thursday (times vary from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.) The site coordinators are to facilitate or monitor the program. Location: Terry Parker Sr.High School Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or demonstrated relevant equivalent experience in education, social work, or related field. Experience in working with school-age children. Ability to work with people of diverse cultural backgrounds. Practical written and verbal communication skills. Willingness and ability to effectively communicate with youth. Familiarity with local health and human service agencies. Flexibility, resourcefulness, enthusiasm, and high energy. A criminal background check is required.
