What are the major job responsibilities?
Caregivers will assist with supervision of the children and implement group experiences and lesson plans in coordination with the rest of the classroom instructional team.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist in planning and implementing the daily program under the direction of the teacher.
- Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up interest centers and preparing needed materials and supplies.
- Lead a small group of children in small groups, planning, recall. Share responsibilities to lead the whole group as needed.
- Be responsible for a healthy and safe physical environment for the children enrolled in his/her class.
- Supervise the classroom if the teacher is out of the room.
- Attend required staff meetings and training programs.
- Interact with children in a positive way, showing dignity and respect.
- Observe individual children and relate to the teacher any concerns.
- Observe individual children, record anecdotal notes and enter information into the on-line assessment.
- Complete accident and "ouch" reports as necessary.
- Assist in classroom management by reinforcing classroom rules, procedures and routines.
- Interact with parents, informing them about classroom procedures; refer parents with concerns about their child to the teacher.
- Perform any other task that will assist and/or is assigned by the teacher.
- Perform as a substitute when the teacher is absent.
- Assist with clean-up at the end of the day.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Wash classroom toys and materials a minimum of two times per year; more often as needed due to children's illnesses and development.
- Maintain classroom inventory of educational materials and equipment.
- Prepare food menus with the lead teacher and place orders as required by the program.
- Maintain child files as required by the program, special education 504, and child day care licensing.
- Assist in public relations events sponsored by the school.
- Create a group atmosphere with prosocial behavioral expectations to ensure safety, protection of property and respect of others.
- Assist in planning field trips.
- Notify the Director in the event of an absence.
- Director, including an absence report when necessary.
- Be knowledgeable of and participate in setting and accomplishing goals, objectives, activities and evaluation.
- Work with the lead teacher to interview and enroll students.
- Provide home visits as required by the program.
- Follow all rules and regulations required for day care licensing.
- Follow all rules and regulations required in the implementation manual for the Great Start Readiness Program.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Early Childhood Specialist
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate Degree
- Child Development Associate (CDA)
- Will successfully pass a criminal background check
