A specialized opportunity is available for an experienced educator skilled in supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH) within the Syracuse, NY area. This role focuses on instructing students in grades 6 through 12 in a high school setting, providing tailored educational services to a caseload capped at 20 students. The student population primarily includes individuals with autism who are emergent communicators, requiring a unique combination of expertise and compassion. Key Responsibilities: Deliver specialized instruction and support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in grades 6-12. Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the needs of students with autism who are emergent communicators. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive educational support. Monitor and document student progress, adjusting strategies as necessary. Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment that promotes student growth and engagement. Qualifications: Certification or licensure to teach Deaf / Hard of Hearing students, appropriate for grades 6-12. Experience working with students who have autism and are emergent communicators. Strong communication skills, with the ability to adapt instructional methods to diverse learning needs. Ability to manage a caseload effectively while maintaining individualized attention to each student. Dedication to creating accessible and meaningful educational experiences.
