Job Description
Job Title: Gifted Teacher
Reports To: Director
FSLA: Exempt
Location: Crestwood Local Schools - Portage County
Summary: Serves as a facilitator for the implementation of gifted initiatives, supporting staff, students, and families to ensure effective and equitable gifted programming.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned by the Administration.
- Review and revision of policy and procedures for gifted identification and service.
- Program development and service options based on the district's gifted population and needs.
- Collaboration with school staff concerning student acceleration and testing procedures.
- Assistance with EMIS data reporting and Gifted Self-Reports for ODEW.
- Provide curriculum support to teachers through best practices for gifted learners, including strategies to differentiate instruction.
- Facilitate professional development that addresses the unique needs of the district.
- Serve as liaison between the state and the school district regarding policies and legislation.
- Conduct program evaluation and needs analysis for instructional planning.
- Assistance with the development of Written Education Plans for gifted students.
- Communicate to teachers, parents, and administration the needs and rights of gifted students and consult with them regarding gifted education.
- Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations related to gifted education.
- Support transition planning for gifted students advancing to the next grade level.
- Instruct assigned classes as designated and aligned with individual Written Education Plans (WEPs).
- Serves as the Educational Service Center of the Western Reserve, liaison with districts, parents, and the community regarding Gifted and Talented programming.

Education/Experience & Certification:
Must hold an appropriate Ohio Department of Education license, including a Gifted Intervention Specialist endorsement or equivalent.
Physical Demands:
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to perform student holds up to 80 pounds, as required, following proper training and safety protocols. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision. While performing the duties of their job, employees are regularly required to use their hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with their hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit; bend, twist, and squat. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
