Position Summary:

The Gifted and Talented (GT) Teacher is responsible for developing and delivering enriched, accelerated, and differentiated instruction to scholars identified as gifted and talented. The GT Teacher creates a learning environment that fosters critical thinking, creativity, and intellectual curiosity while ensuring the academic and emotional needs of high-achieving learners are met.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement instructional strategies that meet the unique needs of gifted learners in accordance with district, state, and national standards.

  • Differentiate curriculum and instruction to provide depth, complexity, and challenge for GT scholars.

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to support the integration of GT best practices into general education settings.

  • Develop and facilitate independent projects, inquiry-based learning, and problem-solving activities.

  • Monitor and assess scholar progress using formal and informal assessments; provide timely feedback and adjust instruction as needed.

  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of GT scholar services, progress, and learning goals.

  • Serve as an advocate for GT scholars and provide guidance to scholars and families about academic opportunities and social-emotional needs.

  • Participate in the identification and placement process for gifted scholars, including data analysis and communication with staff and families.

  • Stay current with research, trends, and best practices in gifted education through ongoing professional development.

  • Support school-wide enrichment activities and participate in district GT programming and initiatives.



Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Education or a related field

  • Valid teaching license/certification in [State]

  • Endorsement or certification in Gifted and Talented Education (or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of differentiated instruction and curriculum modification for advanced learners

Preferred:

  • Masters degree in Gifted Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field

  • Experience working with gifted scholars in an educational setting

  • Training in identification practices and social-emotional support for gifted learners
