Start Date: July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2026

Position: Full-Time, 11 Months

Hours: 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Position Overview
Codman Academy Charter Public School is seeking an Upper School Mathematics Teacher with a focus on Moderate Disabilities/Inclusion to lead an engaging and rigorous mathematics curriculum aligned with EL Education principles. The ideal candidate will foster inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and a hands-on approach to mathematics instruction. This role requires an SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) endorsement, ensuring that all students, including English Language Learners (ELLs), receive high-quality mathematics instruction in an inclusive and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum & Instruction

  • Develop and implement a standards-aligned high school mathematics curriculum that incorporates inquiry-based learning, problem-solving, and real-world applications.

  • Teach courses in Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and/or Statistics, integrating project-based learning and interdisciplinary connections.

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, ensuring accessibility for ELLs and students with disabilities.

  • Incorporate technology, data analysis, and mathematical literacy into instruction to enhance student engagement and learning.

Student Engagement & Academic Support

  • Foster a classroom environment where students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning skills.

  • Utilize formative and summative assessments to measure student progress and inform instruction.

  • Provide targeted support to English Language Learners (ELLs), ensuring equitable access to rigorous mathematics content.

  • Support students in developing mathematics portfolios, participating in research projects, and engaging in STEM-related extracurricular activities.

Collaboration & School Engagement

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to integrate mathematics concepts into other disciplines through EL Education's expeditionary learning model.

  • Participate in professional development and school-wide initiatives to continuously improve instructional practices.

  • Communicate regularly with families to support student growth and success in mathematics learning.

  • Serve as an advisor or mentor to students, supporting their academic and personal development.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

  • Massachusetts teaching certification in Mathematics (9-12).

  • SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) Endorsement required.

  • Experience teaching high school mathematics in an urban school setting.

  • Strong understanding of inquiry-based and student-centered learning.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support student learning and the overall success of Codman Academy.

Preferred:

  • Experience with EL Education or project-based learning.

  • Background in supporting ELLs and students with diverse learning needs.

  • Passion for STEM education and commitment to equity in mathematics education.

Salary Range: Based on CACPS scale
