Full Time Special Education Teacher (Independence Academy)

Full Time Special Education Teacher (18-21 Transition Program/ Independence Academy) position for the 25-26 SY. The Special Education Teacher in the Independence Academy is responsible for providing individualized instruction and support to young adults with disabilities as they transition from high school to adult life. This position focuses on helping students develop functional academic skills, independent living skills, employability, and community integration to promote successful post-secondary outcomes. Qualified candidates should be familiar with NJ Student Learning Standards, have experience in transition skills, life skills, and vocational education, have knowledge of transition services, IEP development and post-secondary planning, be familiar with adult service agencies, supported employment, community-based curriculum, and daily living skills curriculum, and must be able to collaborate and be a cooperative member of the multidisciplinary team to support student success.
