About the Position
We are seeking a warm, collaborative, and nature-loving Co-Teacher to join our Microschool team serving Kindergarten and Grade 1 students. In this role, youll co-lead a child-centered, outdoor-based classroom that blends play, exploration, and Maine State Standards. Each day includes classroom prep, community-building, hands-on learning, and outdoor free play, all rooted in children's interests and the rhythms of the natural world.
Co-Teachers support academic learning in literacy, math, science, social studies, STEM, and the arts, while also nurturing social-emotional growth and modeling positive conflict resolution. Youll document learning through photos and video, communicate regularly with families, and uphold safety protocols including first aid and Leave No Trace practices. This is a full-time, year-round position with teaching responsibilities during all winter vacation weeks aligned with local public school calendars.

What Were Looking For:
Were seeking a committed, enthusiastic educator who thrives in dynamic outdoor environments and is passionate about child-led, nature-based learning. Ideal candidates will demonstrate the following qualifications:
- 2+ years of teaching experience with curriculum instruction and design (required)
- Ability to engage and care for children ages 4.5 - 10 with patience, compassion, and consistency
- Strong verbal communication and listening skills to connect with children, colleagues, and families
- Dependability, adaptability, and initiative in fast-paced, ever-changing settings
- Enthusiastic and proactive approach to supervising and co-teaching in an outdoor classroom
- Excellent multitasking and organizational skills to support multiple children and activities
- Physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs, remain on your feet for long periods, and work outdoors for 8 hours a day in all weather conditions
- GED or higher required; Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred
- Willingness to obtain and maintain current CPR and Adult/Infant First Aid certifications
- Commitment to completing 30 hours of professional development training annually
- Successful completion of background checks and other pre-employment requirements
- Agreement to a 6-month probationary period to ensure mutual fit and satisfaction
