PURPOSE OF JOB: To motivate each pupil to develop competencies, knowledge and skills in comprehending, speaking, reading and writing a foreign language, in accordance with each pupil's ability; to interpret to pupils the culture of the countries where the foreign language is spoken; to discover and develop special talents of pupils in foreign language communication.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  1. Develops pupil's skills and knowledge of a foreign language (French 1 - 3), utilizing course of study adopted by the district, and other appropriate learning tools. Modern foreign language teachers teach aural comprehension, speaking, reading and writing.
  2. Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
  3. Provides learning experiences which develop the basic communication skills, utilizing electronics and other equipment as appropriate.
  4. Develops pupil understanding and appreciation of culture of countries where the studied language is spoken.
  5. Evaluates each pupil's progress in aural comprehension, speaking, reading, and the foreign language in relationship to the level being taught.
  6. Selects and requisitions books, instruction aids and supplies; maintains required inventory records.
  7. Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in helping pupils solve health, attitude and learning problems.
  8. Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
  9. Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
  10. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and in self-selected professional growth.

This job requires that the employee be able to: sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands, fingers, reach with hands and fingers; bend, stoop, lift objects of at least ten pounds. Job requires the employee occasionally to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Visual ability requires mono and color vision, close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Length of work year: 10 month calendar
