Floating Teacher

A Floating teacher at The Goddard School is responsible for helping to establish and maintain a safe, healthy and nurturing learning environment. A Resource is responsible for working with all staff members as per the responsibilities assigned by the management.

Qualifications:

A Floater Staff must meet the qualifications of:

  • The ability to understand and support the education program using "learning through play" philosophy.
  • The ability to interact closely with children at their level, within sight and sound supervision at all times.
  • The ability to change children's diapers and/or assist in toileting (where necessary);
  • The ability to communicate effectively and professionally with school personnel, children and parents.
  • The ability to handle crisis situations, including assisting in evacuating the building during emergencies.
  • The ability to safely walk children from room to room or playground or an outdoor area.
  • Willing to clean and sanitize surfaces and learning materials regularly and as needed basis
  • Ability to break teachers during nap times while supervising children actively at all times
  • Ability to obtain resources to support learning environment in the classrooms
  • Ability to use ipads for assisting teachers with daily reports

A Floater Staff must meet one of the following educational requirements:

  • High School Diploma with at least 12 credits in Early Childhood Development or related field
  • A Child Development Certificate or higher preferred

Responsibilities

The Floater/Assistant teacher's responsibilities include assisting the lead teacher in implementing the lead teacher's responsibilities including but, not limited to the following:

  • Cleaning and sanitizing
  • Active supervision
  • Helping teacher with resources
  • Assist food staff with distribution
  • Opening and closing Checklists
  • Ensure that classroom equipment is in good repair
  • Understand and implement The Goddard School emergency procedure(s)
  • Promote healthy eating practices at lunch and snack times
  • Ensure that children are always within state ratio requirements
  • Perform minor cleaning responsibilities (e.g., spills) immediately
  • Perform major cleaning during times when children are not present
  • Understand and adhere to the GSI Behavior Policy
  • Encourage empathetic and respectful feelings for others, as well as the environment, through positive modeling
  • Respect cultural and ethnic diversity
  • Promote "learning through play" philosophy and educational objectives

Pay

$16.00 - $20.00 per hour

Schedule

  • Monday to Friday: 7 AM to 1 PM, 11 AM to 3 PM and 2 PM to 6 PM.
