A childcare floater is a versatile and adaptable staff member in a childcare center whoprovides support and assistance across multiple classrooms and age groups as needed.They are essentially the "utility players" of the daycare, filling in where there's a need, whether it's covering staff breaks, assisting with daily activities, or helping maintain a safe and engaging environment for children.
Duties
Covering staff breaks or absences. Assisting with meal preparation and cleanup. Supervising children during playtime and activities. Helping with daily routines like diaper changes, toileting, and naptime. Sanitizing toys and equipment. Implementing planned activities and providing a stimulating environment. Interacting with parents and providing updates on their child's day. Observing and documenting children's progress and needs
Requirements
Experience: Previous experience in childcare or early childhood education is often required or preferred. Early Childhood Education Units: Some positions may require specific early childhood education units. CPR and First Aid Certification: May be required or preferred. Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Essential for interacting with children, parents, and staff. Physical Stamina and Energy: The role requires being active and on your feet for extended periods. Patience and Flexibility: Floaters need to be patient, adaptable, and able to handle changing situations
