Labouré Adult Education offers comprehensive, high-quality educational services to advance and accelerate the academic achievement of adult immigrant learners who face significant barriers in their search of viable career pathways and self-sufficiency. The program provides 5 levels of ESOL instruction from beginning to advanced levels of language proficiency, college and career readiness programming, flexible schedule and distance learning options.

Teach ESOL III 12 hours, ESOL V 8 hours, 20 instructional, 10 hours of prep time, 2.5 hours of academic advising, 5 hours of administrative work, 37.5 hours weekly total. Full time, Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times.
  • Teach ESOL to adult students at the intermediate level (ESOL III).
  • Teach ESOL at the high intermediate/advanced level (ESOL V).
  • Conduct initial and on-going assessment of students, including BEST and TABE E.
  • Participate in staff development.
  • Integrate technology in the class curriculum.
  • Provide classroom instruction and educational advising.
  • Participate in group curriculum development and develops curriculum materials which meet best practice standards.
  • Maintain students' records in agency reporting tools.
  • Facilitates student access to other educational, skills training, and/or higher educational programs, their requirements and other information.
  • Implements strategies for obtaining student feedback and incorporate data in new course offerings and staff professional development.
  • Comply with DESE required policies and regulations.
  • Timely arrival to perform the functions of the position.
  • Perform work in a classroom/office environment with the use of computers, fax machines, photocopiers, phones and other office equipment. May stand or sit for prolonged periods.
  • Local travel as needed.
  • Other related responsibilities as assigned.
  • Attend all internal and external meetings and trainings as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in a similar environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of educational theory and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and compassionately in a culturally competent manner, with students of a wide variety of backgrounds, skill levels, race and ethnicity with varying level of English language skills.
  • Interest and ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good typing skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook. Proficient Internet skills.
