TITLE: English/Language Arts Teacher
REPORTS TO: Principal
JOB GOAL: To teach students so that they learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate in English or Comprehensive Language Arts (5-12 preferred)
- Experience preferred
- Has a strong background in writing skills and demonstrates language skills through written work
- Possess the knowledge of how to use a variety of teaching strategies to effectively teach students with varying levels of ability
- Possess knowledge of strategies to prepare students for standardized testing
- Possess a strong academic background
- Demonstrates creative ability through writing
- Has experience in writing poetry, stories, essays, etc., and the ability to instruct students to write in these areas
- Is willing to work with Written Communications Month
- Values reading of important literary work
- Demonstrates language skills through evaluation of language expression and mechanics
- Possess proficiency in basic grammar and the language usage
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Successful completion of the interview process
- Any additional combination of training or experience which would lead to successful employment as an English/Language Arts Teacher
