ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING TEACHER

We will create an environment where teachers are empowered to make instructional decisions using the most current student evidence (data) and the teams instructional expertise. This role may have both an in person and virtual component.
JOB TITLE: ELL Teacher
REPORTS TO: Director of Specialized Services, Director of School
START DATE: 2025/2026 Academic School Year
TEACHER STARTING SALARY: $50,000
JOB SUMMARY:
The English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher supports multilingual learners by providing targeted English language instruction that builds proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The ELL Teacher designs and implements lessons that align with state standards and language development goals, while also supporting students' academic achievement across content areas. This role involves assessing language proficiency, monitoring progress, and collaborating with classroom teachers, families, and support staff to ensure inclusive and culturally responsive instruction. The ELL Teacher is responsible for maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations, including Title III of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), and ensuring that students receive equitable access to educational opportunities.
JOB GOALS:
- Use language teaching strategies to improve scholar performance in English speaking and proficiency
- Advocate for ELL scholars to insure needs are met
- Administer all diagnostic tools per state requirement and Emerald protocol
- Set and maintain a schedule to met caseload requirements
- Record and maintain scholar files and reports
- Prepare the classroom and organize all instructional materials and equipment
- Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to ensure modifications are aligned to instruction
- Monitor scholars performance, partner with the teacher to improve learning outcomes as a valuable resource; communicate performance to families
- Attend all in-service and faculty meetings as requested
- Refrain from discussing confidential school business and student records during and outside of school hours
- Assist in providing reasonable accommodations, as needed, for scholars with disabilities
- Establish and maintain satisfactory, respectful working relationships within the school environment
- Be an active part of the staff never tiring in efforts to have all EA scholars succeed academically
- Perform other routine or sporadic duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Hold a college degree in area of Education from an accredited institution
- Hold a valid State of Tennessee Certification for ELL
- Possess a passion for the work itself
- Thrive in an innovative environment
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Believe all kids can learn and achieve at high academic levels
