Job Description
Job Title: ELL Teacher (1.0 FTE) for the 2025-26 School Year
Job Goal: To provide effective teaching necessary to meet the goals and objectives of the curriculum.
Reports to: Principal
Qualifications: Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement and/or K-12 Bilingual Endorsement in Arabic or Spanish preferred
Fluent in Arabic or Spanish and English
Willingness to advocate for bilingual students and their families
Evaluation: The ELL Teacher will be evaluated by the Principal.
Duties and Responsibilities:
General Responsibilities:
To provide strategic intervention for ELL students To provide push-in classroom support for EL students in their general English classrooms and/or other classrooms as assigned. Instruct students in English Language acquisition who are newcomers to the country Maintain accurate academic and behavior data on EL students as assigned Serve as the Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee leader Assist the main office with translations during the school day and/or for parent meetings when required Administer ACCESS testing and screen new EL students Essential Functions: Create a collaborative environment with other teachers to best serve ELL students Use data from classroom-level assessments, districtwide assessments (e.g. Measures of Academic Progress), and curriculum-based measures or screeners to identify students strengths and weaknesses Provides explicit, scientifically based instruction to small groups of EL students Engage students in goal setting and monitoring student progress towards their goals. Maintains required data on individual student progress and articulates that data with the students families on a regular basis Complete other duties as needed under the direction of building administration or as assigned by the Director of MTSS Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proven record of great instructional strategies geared toward developing English in bilingual students Strong ability to differentiate instruction to best suit student needs Ability to celebrate learner successes (staff and student) Demonstration of eagerness to learn and take risks Salary: per URS Collective Bargaining Agreement
