The Lower School Theater and Middle School Visual Arts Teacher will *pilot* a Lower School theater program and teach the fifth- and sixth-grade visual arts curriculum. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with a passion for theatre and art.

*Essential Responsibilities:(duties can change and others may be assigned)*
● Deliver our visual arts curriculum for 5th and 6th-grade students, covering various mediums, techniques, including ceramics, observational drawing, and mix media.
● Teach fundamental acting skills, stage presence, voice projection, and improvisation to elementary-age students.
● Integrate art and theater concepts with other academic subjects to create interdisciplinary learning experiences that foster a deeper understanding of the subject matter.
● Able to direct a Lower School theater production.
● Organize and showcase student artwork at gallery shows.
● Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their artistic growth.
● Maintain a safe, organized, and inspiring art studio and theater space.
● Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and artistic achievements.
● Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in art and theater education.
● Collaborate with the members of the theater department on co-curricular productions in the Middle and Upper School.
● Attend and contribute to meetings during the school day and after school, which includes weekly faculty meetings.
*Education and Qualifications:*
● A Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Theater Education, or a related field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
● Experiences in theatre and the arts that connect to working with children, reflecting a passion for the arts.
● Knowledge of art history, various art mediums, and artistic techniques.
● Having the technical knowledge to direct and produce theatrical performances for elementary schools students.
● Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
● Able to control emotions while under pressure.
● Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners.
● Exhibits patience, sound judgement, and professionalism while working with students and colleagues.
● Interested in our Quaker mission and DEI initiatives.
● Able to work after school, evenings, and weekends as needed.

*Salary:* The expected salary range is $70,000-$73,000. The actual compensation will be based on the candidates relevant and transferable years of service, and other factors, which include internal peer equity, the market and other organizational considerations. The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
