Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Instructional Support: Provide direct instruction and support to elementary students with diverse learning abilities, utilizing evidence-based teaching strategies and instructional materials to promote academic growth and skill development.
2. Differentiated Instruction: Adapt curriculum content, instructional techniques, and assessment methods to accommodate the individual learning styles and needs of elementary students with disabilities, ensuring equitable access to the curriculum.
3. Resource Coordination: Coordinate with classroom teachers, specialists, and support staff to deliver appropriate accommodations, modifications, and supplementary services to elementary students with disabilities in inclusive classroom settings.
4. Progress Monitoring: Conduct ongoing assessments and progress monitoring to track students' academic performance and behavioral development, adjusting instructional strategies and interventions as needed to promote success.
5. Collaborative Teamwork: Foster a collaborative and supportive learning environment by collaborating with colleagues, attending team meetings, and actively participating in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to special education practices.
6. Parental Engagement: Maintain open communication with parents/guardians regarding students' progress, instructional strategies, and support services, and actively engage with them to ensure a comprehensive approach to student success.
7. Compliance and Documentation: Ensure compliance with diocesan regulations governing special education services, including accurate and timely documentation of student progress, accommodations, and services provided.
Requirements
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in special education or related field
- Current Florida Teaching Certificate in Special Education (ESE) or ability to obtain certification
- Previous experience working with students with diverse learning needs in a school setting
- Strong understanding of special education best practices
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with disabilities
- Requires an appreciation and respect for the Catholic Church and its teachings.
