Primary Purpose:
To provide high-quality instruction in English Language Arts (ELA) and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), as well as to guide students in developing research, reading, and writing skills necessary for academic success. The teacher will support English learners (ELs) in mastering grade-level content while developing English language proficiency. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements in: English Language Arts (Grades 9-12) English as a Second Language (ESL) Supplemental
Demonstrated knowledge of second language acquisition and effective instructional strategies for English learners Strong classroom management and communication skills Experience with research-based instruction and data-driven teaching practices preferred Major Responsibilities and Duties: Instructional Planning & Delivery Develop and implement engaging ELA/ESOL lessons that align with TEKS and district curriculum. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of English learners at varying levels of proficiency. Incorporate academic research and writing strategies across content areas.
Language Development & Support Foster language acquisition through structured speaking, listening, reading, and writing activities. Monitor EL progress toward English proficiency and academic achievement. Integrate culturally responsive teaching to support student identity and engagement.
Assessment & Progress Monitoring Assess student learning regularly using formative and summative assessments. Analyze student data to inform instruction and adjust supports accordingly. Maintain accurate student records, grades, and documentation of language proficiency.
Collaboration & Communication Work collaboratively with other teachers, ESL staff, and campus leadership to support student success. Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and provide strategies for home support. Participate in campus and district professional learning and planning.
Compliance & Professionalism Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations for ESL instruction. Maintain professional conduct, ethical practices, and student confidentiality. Attend and participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-related events.
Working Conditions: Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, walking, and use of instructional technology. Occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds.
