ECE Support Teacher

POSITION SUMMARY: The ECE Support teacher, working with children of all ages and abilities, will both provide additional support to the lead teachers in the classroom as well as substitute for the lead teacher as needed (due to absences). The ECE Support Teacher will collaborate with co-teacher to provide a nurturing, warm, and stimulating learning environment. In all classrooms, Embrace and model the JCC Internal Service Standards of Respect , Gratitude , Communication, The Golden Rule, and Ownership/Accountability
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Infant/Ones Classrooms Be responsive to each child’s individual needs and schedules. Maintain accurate daily records through Remini. Maintain a consistent routine and classroom management using a supportive, positive redirection approach. Document children’s developmental progress and interest using Remini communication platform. Provide care and active supervision to children and demonstrate an elevated level of responsiveness to needs as they arise maintaining a physically and emotionally safe environment for learning. Build a supportive relationship with families.
Early Preschool & Preschool Classrooms Maintains an orderly and safe classroom environment. Provide active leadership Actively participates in all activities with children. Communicates with lead teacher and/or parents at the beginning and end of the day. Assists with activity planning and preparation of materials and supplies for daily use. Provide care and active supervision to children and demonstrate an elevated level of responsiveness to needs as they arise maintaining a physically and emotionally safe environment for learning. Build a supportive relationship with families.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: CDA certification; Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or; Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 6 credit hours of Child Development or equivalence is required; Minimum of 2 years of childcare experience required.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Knowledge of project approach learning Creative and Energetic Positive Attitude Knowledge of child development and/or early childhood education. Knowledge of general safety rules and basic first aid. Ability to interact with children and remain calm. Ability to handle multiple tasks. Good communication skills. Ability to work effectively in teams and individually. Ability to exhibit good judgment, maturity and stability.
EQUIPMENT USED: Copier Telephone Computer Laminator
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment is fast-paced and the position requires high mobility, standing, walking, bending and sitting on the floor at the child’s level. Must be able to lift and carry young children up to 40 pounds.
