The Early Childhood Teacher II, under the guidance of the Director, plans, implements, and models best practices in early childhood programs to achieve highest standards of quality for children, families, and college students, while supervising students and completing other duties as assigned. All staff positions on campus support students and will be involved in student-focused activities.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Supervise all academic students placed in the classroom. Serve as the Cooperating Teacher for Practicum and Student Teachers. Support EC college teaching and oversee the Federal Work Study program in classroom. Coordinate, plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum, model appropriate child guidance, foster positive relationships with teams members, children and families. Facilitate team meetings on a regular basis. Maintain general communication with all classroom families. Oversee program for all children and families in classroom, assessment of children, recordkeeping, referrals for special education and assist director in maintaining a safe and clean physical environment, including maintenance requests. Meet monthly with the CDC Director, complete annual evaluations process. Participate at EC Faculty meetings or FWS meetings. Attend CDC staff meetings, participate on committees and special projects. Follow and uphold all procedures and policies of the Child Development Center and Keene State College. Ensure supervising and teaching with the most updated professional knowledge and information by attending conferences, workshops and keeping current with course literature. Assume administrative designation in director's absence. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood, Family Studies, Elementary Education, or closely related field. Minimum 4 years teaching experience with children ages birth to 5 years or Master's degree in Early Childhood, Family Studies, Elementary Education or closely related field and three years of experience in teaching birth- 5years; 1 year supervisory experience with college students/adults. Demonstrated interpersonal communication, supervisory and organizational skills, with at least 18 credits in Early Childhood Education, including 3 credits in child development. Must have sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this position, including lifting up to 50 lbs. Preferred Qualifications Teaching experience in a laboratory early childhood center, NH Credential, Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certification Additionally, the College has identified desirable qualifications that support our commitment to creating and maintaining a diverse campus community including the ability to speak a second language or to bring a multicultural perspective to the campus.
