Hourly Rate: Starting at $22.00/hour + comprehensive benefits
Pay Range: $22.00 to $22.50/hour
Hours: 30+ hours/week, M-F, occasional evening hours
Location: One of Boys & Girls Clubs Early Childhood Program sites - placement will be reevaluated each year or during the year as needed
Job Summary: Under supervision of a Teacher, responsible for supervising a group of children, 12 months to 5 years old; planning, organizing, and conducting the daily program activities; communicating with the parents of these children; supervises Assistant Teacher.
Prepare Youth for Success
- Conducts preschool classes and activities that prepare youth for success by incorporating the mission and youth development strategy
- Contributes to identifying and implementing strategies for quality improvement
- Creates an environment that promotes the physical, social, emotional and cognitive well-being of children
- Creates an environment that promotes active participation and incorporates guidance and discipline principles
Health & Safety
- Ensures Family Campus Preschool meets health and safety standards and ensures the safety of all members
- Provides direct supervision of children with the required ratio, including field trips
- Completes the Accident/Incident/Illness report and notifies the parents
- Takes actions to prevent accidents and responds to injury and signs of illness
- Ensures emergency procedures are implemented and followed
- Implements the food service that meets the Child Care Food Program guidelines
Self-Development
- Ensures a productive work environment by working as a member of the team, contributing to team meetings and providing information to support decision making
- Continuously develops own knowledge, skills and manages time and resources
- Must complete 21 hours of professional growth hours annually
Partnership Development
- Builds partnerships with children and families
- Communicates with families about child's day, experiences, progress, and concerns
- Assists in Parent Teacher Conferences
Resource Management
- Assists in assessments of child development, evaluates and utilizes the results for classroom planning
- Assists in maintaining proper record keeping
Additional Responsibilities
- Complies with the Federal, State and Private funding: desired results, US Department of Agriculture Child Care Food Program, and Quality Starts OC
- Completing Daily Infant/Toddler Report, including events, changes in schedule, feeding times, food amounts, child's health and sleeping habits so that continuity of care is maintained
- Provides supervision of volunteers, interns, and Assistant Teacher
- Participates in Professional Learning Community and Planning meetings
- Performs all other duties as assigned
- Works to support all BGCGG early learning programs as needed
Communication
- Maintains close, daily contact with staff, members and supervisors to receive and provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines and instructions and advise and counsel
- Maintains contact as needed with external community groups, members and their families, BGCGG partners and others to promote and ensure the Family Campus Preschool is successful
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 12 semester units including Child Development, Child, Family & Community and Program/Curriculum AND 50 days of 3+hour/day of teaching experience within 2 years at a Licensed Child Care
- OR
- Obtains Child Development Associate Teacher Permit
- Experience with Title 22
- Experience with Title V and Child Care Food Program preferred
- Bilingual capabilities preferred

- Ability to instruct, guide and support each child's physical, social, emotional and cognitive development
- Ability to implement effective classroom management strategies
- Must be able to effectively supervise children, volunteers, interns, Assistant Teacher, and Substitute Teacher
- Ability to effectively communicate including verbal, written, in small and large group settings with children and adults
- Must have strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and rapport
- Ability to contribute ideas and participate as a member of a high performing team
- Must be able to collaborate effectively; must have sound judgment regarding health and safety
- Ability to adapt and be flexible; Ability to apply critical thinking skills when problem solving

- Must be confident and adept at conflict resolution strategies between children, families and staff
- Ability to make on-going observations and anecdotal notes regarding children's development
- Ability to improve personal teaching strategies through short and long term goal setting
- Uses resources effectively to assist with classroom environment and lesson planning
Requirements:
- Position may require standing/sitting for extended periods of time, walking, jumping, twisting of neck side to side, rotation, flexion of neck- looking down, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office equipment, reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, bending at the waist; seeing to review and analyze reports, documents or other reports; hearing and speaking to communicate and provide information to others; speaking to be heard before groups of people; weight bearing activities position may require to lift, carry, pull or otherwise move objects between 10-40 pounds.
